SIERRA'S VISION FOR
BREAKWATER therapy, PLLC

sierra's background

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology UNC-Wilmington
 Master of Social Work UNC-Wilmington

As a trauma-informed therapist, Sierra works closely with individuals and couples to optimize internal and external safety, cultivate healthy boundaries, and resolve the underlying roots of distress. She is passionate about joining clients in the pursuit of lasting change and empowering them to reduce unwanted symptoms and behaviors, to improve self-esteem and decision-making, and to repair relationships.

Sierra is specialty trained in dual diagnosis, particularly the complex presentation of PTSD and addictions. She prioritizes the use of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy to achieve stability and consistency within her clients as they prepare for the deeper work of EMDR therapy. In couples therapy, Sierra blends the use of the Gottman Method and EMDR therapy to establish security, repair interpersonal ruptures, and rebuild foundations.

As an EMDR Certified Therapist and EMDR Consultant, Sierra is available for individual and group consultation for certification candidates. She is highly skilled at treating trauma-based needs and co-occurring conditions like mood lability, panic attacks, eating disorders, addictions, chronic pain, medical issues, and dissociation. She welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with other providers, offering adjunct EMDR services to a client’s primary therapy with other clinicians, and she is available for guest-speaking opportunities in the community.
